Over the past seven years, we put the athletes at the heart of everything that we did and this, of course, included providing them with the very best possible sports equipment and services - your equipment and your service.

— Sebastian KoeKBE, Chairman, Locog

Eleiko supplied all equipment to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. There were a total of 70 complete weightlifting stations, making it the largest installation ever for an international championship at the time. Eleiko worked in closely with the Organizing Committee and International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) to ensure the event met the highest standards.

With the ExCel weightlifting arena in East London playing host to the event, everything was of the highest standard, including training and competition facilities, adjoining areas, the Olympic family and the media, etc. The organizing team’s head of weightlifting, Matthew Curtain, did an exceptional job. The event was presented superbly, with crowd attendances surpassing all expectations as the venue was sold out for practically every session.

A total of 84 national associations were represented, with 252 lifters taking part (of which 41% were women). 19 countries claimed medals (!), of which six won gold. A total of 33 Olympic records, 11 world records and one junior world record were posted during the event.

As well as being the supplier for the main event, Eleiko provided equipment for seven training installations based in the Olympic village. Many of the world’s foremost athletes across a range of sports are used to training with Eleiko equipment. Barbell drills form a key part of training for sports incorporating strength and speed and are also used to prevent injury. Eleiko was also the total supplier for the Paralympic Games in London, which took place a couple of weeks after the summer Olympics. This event was also a major success, with powerlifting gaining plenty of positive exposure throughout the Paralympic community.
