Weightlifting is an integral part of training at the University of Texas, and Eleiko worked closely with the University to develop a unique custom range of powerlifting discs and powerlifting bars, as well as provide 20 complete sets of bars and discs for the training facility.

Ever since becoming the official mascot of the University of Texas in 1966, the Longhorns have encapsulated the pride and tradition for which Texas track and field is renowned. In The Longhorns, J Frank Dobie wrote: “The Longhorns made their reputations in fierce, hardy, persistent, resourceful, daring efforts to maintain freedom … The Longhorns possessed an adamantine strength, an aboriginal vitality, a Spartan endurance, and a fierce nobility …”.

Texas Athletics’ universal vision is to improve the world through the achievement of brilliant performance. Day by day, its coaches and employees seek to create an environment where high level performance is the norm – whether academically, competitively or in everyday life. They are tasked with preparing over 500 student-athletes to learn what is required in order to achieve personal success and maximize their potential.

Attracting the best student-athletes is paramount for a university in the USA. The facilities must be highly visually impressive, functional and provide a unique and inspirational environment in which to train. In order to create this type of facility, partnering with Eleiko was the logical choice for the University of Texas when seeking to renovate its training center.

In 2013, the “Dr. Nasser Al-Rashid Strength and Training Center” opened its doors at the University of Texas, a perfect example of an inspiring sporting setting. Eleiko played a major role in creating a highly unique environment for their student-athletes which was both inspiring and functional. The complex spans over 1,800 square meters.

Eleiko produced a unique range of chrome powerlifting discs meeting IPF standards, featuring the Longhorns emblem in orange, as well as powerlifting bars which are used for extremely heavy lifts each day.

With Olympic lifts forming an integral part of training at the University of Texas, Eleiko weightlifting bars and discs are prominent among their platforms. Their 500 student-athletes make use of the facility’s 20 complete sets every day to perform hundreds of lifts.
