Eleiko Supports the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships in Cairo.

The 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships, held in Cairo, marked a historic milestone as the first-ever World Championships hosted in Africa. The event welcomed 537 athletes from 70 National Paralympic Committees, officially opening the qualification pathway toward the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games. In total, 20 world records were broken — 4 in the Elite division and 16 across the Rookie & Next Gen categories — highlighting the sport’s rapid global progression.

As a long-standing partner of World Para Powerlifting since 2005, Eleiko provided a fully equipped competition platform, including bars, plates, and six dedicated warm-up benches. Every piece of equipment was specifically designed for para-athletes, ensuring safe, high-performance lifting while fully complying with WPPO regulations for international championships and the Paralympic Games.

Cairo 2025 also featured the largest-ever Rookie & Next Gen World Championships, with 120 athletes aged 20 or younger — 84 men and 36 women — competing over two dedicated days. This strong representation underscored the sport’s bright future and the importance of consistent, safe, high-performance lifting environments for the next generation.

Reflecting on the partnership, Massimo Dighe, Acting Head of World Para Powerlifting, said:

“Eleiko has been an exceptional partner to World Para Powerlifting since 2014, contributing significantly to the sport’s evolution. Their expertise in designing sport-specific equipment, supporting Local Organising Committees, and delivering world-class lifting environments at WPPO Championships and the Paralympic Games has been invaluable. Cairo 2025 represented a historic moment as the first World Championships held in Africa, and Eleiko’s provision of both competition and warm-up equipment helped ensure its success. We look forward to achieving new milestones together.”
