RWC 2015 will be remembered as the biggest tournament to date, but I also believe that it will be remembered as the best.

Eleiko was chosen as exclusive supplier to the Rugby World Cup (RWC 2015) following a competitive selection process involving several international companies. The competition is one of the world’s largest sporting events behind the summer Olympics and football World Cup. The event took place in England from 18 September to 31 October.

Eleiko was chosen for RWC 2015 because of its capacity to provide world class products, service and support during the whole event. These products included Eleiko’s own range of barbells, discs, platforms, dumbbells, stands and storage solutions. We also enjoyed close collaboration with partners such as RepHouse (flooring), Intenza (cardio), Keiser (exercise bikes) och Concept (rowing machines), ensuring Eleiko was able to provide the organizer with an integrated solution.

The project presented a considerable logistical challenge for Eleiko, who handled installation of equipment in 42 locations across England over a two-week period. 12 of the installations involved complete gyms constructed temporarily in either rented premises or temporary sites/tents. Throughout the project we benefited from a close professional partnership with Pullum Sports, our local distributor.

The equipment provided by Eleiko proved a big hit among the 20 national teams, while the event organizer was also delighted with the service and support provided by Eleiko, in association with Pullum.

RWC 2015 was also a major success, both commercially and in sporting terms. The All Blacks from New Zealand dominated the final against Australia, becoming the first team to defend the title in the process. Over 2.47 million tickets were sold for the competition’s 48 matches, generating receipts of GBP 250 million. The final was watched on TV by 120 million people worldwide, with the sport gaining a major breakthrough in new countries such as Japan, where 25 million followed their team’s clash with Samoa.
