Vanessa Kamga leads a practical session showing how strength training supports Olympic performance.

On March 18, the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) and Eleiko joined forces at CrossFit Kinetics in Stockholm for a dedicated session of the SOK Training Club. This monthly initiative invites partners to experience Olympic sports firsthand, guided by some of Sweden’s top athletes.

For the March session, the focus was Olympic Weightlifting — a discipline where Eleiko’s heritage and technical expertise provided a natural foundation for a day centred on learning and performance.

A partnership built on strength

The event forms part of the broader partnership between Eleiko and the Swedish Olympic Committee. As SOK’s official supplier of strength training equipment, Eleiko supports the training environments of Swedish athletes as they prepare for Los Angeles 2028.

The collaboration brings together Eleiko’s 65+ years of strength expertise with SOK’s mission to enable athletes to perform at the highest international level.

Learning from the best: Vanessa Kamga

The session was led by Swedish record holder Vanessa Kamga, whose approach to training reflects the role of strength development across disciplines.

Competing at the highest level in discus — including a fifth-place finish at the Paris Games — Vanessa integrates structured strength training and weightlifting movements into her programme to develop the power required for her sport. She has also established herself in weightlifting, setting a Swedish national record.

For Vanessa, strength is both physical and mental — a foundation that underpins performance in competition:

“For me, physical strength is the foundation for generating maximum power and explosiveness in the throw. Mentally, strength is something that is built through all the tough sessions and the choices I’ve made to dedicate myself to my sport. When it matters most, it’s about being able to trust that all the work has been done to the highest level.”

Strength training plays a central role in enabling that performance:

“It builds the explosiveness I need in the ring and allows me to transfer more power into the discus. At the same time, it gives me clear milestones where I can challenge my limits and achieve new personal bests. That drives my development forward and makes me a better athlete.”

Her contribution to the SOK Training Club highlighted the importance of strength as a foundation for performance, regardless of discipline, and reflected the shared focus of SOK and Eleiko on long-term athlete development.

The experience at CrossFit Kinetics

Held at CrossFit Kinetics, a facility designed for functional training, the session gave participants a practical introduction to weightlifting fundamentals. Under the guidance of Vanessa and the Eleiko team, attendees worked with Eleiko equipment to develop technique in a structured, high-performance environment.

The session concluded with a discussion led by Vanessa, where she shared insights into her training, competition preparation, and experience as an elite Swedish athlete. Looking ahead, her ambitions remain firmly set on continued progression at the highest level:

“My plan is to keep challenging myself to become the best athlete I can be — to keep pushing my limits, compete at the highest levels, and fight for international medals. Of course, LA 2028 is a clear goal. But the journey there is about the work I put in every single day.”

The event also provided an opportunity for partners to connect and reflect on the role of strength training within Olympic sport.

Looking ahead

As preparations continue towards upcoming Olympic Games, Eleiko remains committed to supporting SOK and its athletes. Through initiatives such as the SOK Training Club, we continue to share knowledge, support athlete development, and contribute to stronger training environments for Sweden’s elite.
