Eleiko breaks ground for new logistics center
Official groundbreaking for Eleiko's new logistics center.
The construction of Eleiko's new environmentally certified logistics center of just over 18,000 square meters in Halmstad is underway. The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony on October 13 was done by Erik Blomberg, CEO at Eleiko, Robert Eek, CEO of OOF Group AB and Martin Bramsell, Construction Manager at MMB together with Jonas Bergman, chairman of the municipal board in Halmstad.
The new logistics centre will be built on a plot next to Eleiko's head office in Kistinge. With the new building, Eleiko plans to expand production and expects to be able to more than double the current production area. The investment is an important part of the company's long-term strategy for continued growth and is expected to be able to create more jobs in Halmstad, Eleiko's hometown. The property is expected to be completed during Q3 2022.
“This groundbreaking symbolizes the result of several parties' joint work to make this modern logistics property a reality. To continue Eleiko's growth journey, we need larger and more optimized logistics and production facilities. The logistics center, together with other investments in logistics, will be an important driving force to be able to expand with more production in existing properties and meet our customers' needs both now and in the future,” says Erik Blomberg, CEO at Eleiko.
The building is also an important key in Eleiko's extensive sustainability work. The logistics center will be environmentally certified and Eleiko plans to invest in solar cells with the goal of reducing their total electricity consumption by at least 20% by 2024.
Also present at the ceremony were Riccardo Sforzini, OOF Group, Håkan Ripa and Sven Eltes from Danske Bank, Bruno von Sicard and Adam Jangetun, Auctoritas and Frida Granath, MMB.
