Eleiko Releases Annual Sustainability Report, Demonstrating Commitment to Environmental and Social Responsibility.
Halmstad, Sweden - Eleiko, a leading global provider of strength equipment, is pleased to announce the release of its Annual Sustainability Report for the fiscal year 2022. The report highlights Eleiko's dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability practices across its operations.
Eleiko recognizes the need to address environmental challenges and believes that responsible business practices are essential to building a sustainable future – an essential element of our vision for A Stronger World. Since 2017, the company has implemented various initiatives and strategies to minimize its ecological footprint and promote sustainable development.
Key highlights from Eleiko's Annual Sustainability Report include:
Product Development: Eleiko completed a cradle-to-gate lifecycle assessment of our bars resulting in a baseline of ca. 24 kg CO2e emissions per bar, including packaging. The main contributor to emissions in our industry is the steel production process, and we work closely with our steel partners on activities that will continuously lower the emissions in our ambition towards carbon neutral bars.
Product Innovation: Eleiko continuously strives to develop innovative, long-lasting products. With a less-is-more philosophy, and by carefully choosing materials and constantly improving manufacturing processes, the company aims to minimize the environmental impact of its products without compromising performance or quality. Two notable projects that exemplify this philosophy include the introduction of the new IWF Weightlifting Competition Plates and the Prestera Strength System.
Facilities: Eleiko completed the development and moved into its new 18,300 square meter building, the first in the region to be certified at the Silver level by the Sweden Green Building Council.
Waste Management and Recycling: Eleiko is committed to reducing waste generation and increasing recycling rates. The company has implemented waste reduction strategies and improved recycling infrastructure, achieving its 2024 goals ahead of target.
Supply Chain Sustainability: Eleiko works with suppliers and partners who share its commitment to sustainability. The company conducts annual assessments to ensure ethical and environmentally responsible practices throughout its supply chain.
Employee Engagement: Eleiko recognizes that sustainability is a collective effort and actively encourages employee engagement through goals and activities.
